Correcting The Cause in West Des Moines
Treating the Source, Not The Symptoms
45 Million Americans complain about headaches. That’s one in every six people according ihateheadaches.com.
Headaches, back pain, high blood pressure, even stress. These everyday aches and pains experienced by a vast majority of people are easy to minimize and temporarily treat. However, this is only focusing on the symptom and not addressing the cause. In order to accurately “treat” a symptom, at Vero Chiropractic in West Des Moines, we must first understand why they are occurring in the first place.
More often than not, we try to cover up our health concerns through medication or surgeries to ease the pain or discomfort - at least for a while. But what happens if your symptoms just keep presenting themselves, even with treatment?
For example, you get a headache, so you take ibuprofen to dull the pain. Then tomorrow you get another headache, so you take more ibuprofen. Then another the next day and the next. So, was the medication correcting the cause or just simply masking the symptoms OF the cause? In this example, the ibuprofen is masking the symptom, by easing the pain versus working on finding the source and correcting it.
As a neurologically-based chiropractor in West Des Moines, treating at the source is what we do. While a traditional chiropractor focuses on the muscles and bones, Vero Chiropractic takes a unique approach by addressing the nervous system, which controls every function in your body. By doing an in-depth analysis of your brain and spine, we can determine exactly where there is dysfunction and what miscommunications are taking place, causing your symptoms to even appear.
Your nervous system is the master control system for your body, responsible for sending messages to every internal function. Now that’s a stressful job! If one of those messages gets interrupted or even “fails-to-send,” the result is some sort of dysfunction, which could cause a symptom to arise.
A misalignment or subluxation can cause nerve interference that results in symptoms from headaches, to aches/pain, to digestive issues, to loss of movement and everything inbetween. What’s important to note here is that where you notice or feel the outward symptom is not necessarily where the cause of the issue is rooted.
Symptoms are your body’s way of signally something is not functioning properly. Simply put, they are a red flag and shouldn’t be masked or dismissed!
Our goal isn’t to provide you a temporary fix, but a permanent solution. At Vero Chiropractic in West Des Moines, our job is to not only get you to your optimal level of health, but to keep you there - for life!
